Executive Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) has overall strategic and operational responsibility for Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support’s (Share) staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. The ED manages Share’s national office and creates an atmosphere for success in achieving Share’s mission to support families that have lost their baby.

Year one goals will include developing deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.

Leadership & Management:

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
  • Develop and manage annual budget
  • Actively recruit, engage, and energize Share’s volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing local operations as well as Share’s national and international efforts
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Share team, with an emphasis on employee engagement and retention. The Share team currently consists of approximately 7 people, plus several regular volunteers.
  • Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
  • Write or approve all contracts and purchases in accordance with operational policies and/or practices.
  • Maintain all legal documents, including contracts

 

Fundraising & Communications:

  • Evaluate and expand revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and further expansion
  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
  • Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities
  • Attend and speak at fundraising, memorial and special events, including events taking place at night and on weekends

 

Execute Share’s Mission and Expand Reach

  • Provide leadership, management and support for the development of mission driven programs (i.e. Support Groups, Education, etc.)
  • Provide a safe and confidential environment for families who have experienced loss, ensuring support that is nondiscriminatory, culturally-aware, trauma-informed and intentionally inclusive
  • Serve as the spokesperson for the organization
  • Give presentations locally and nationally
  • Provide guidance to Share Chapters on how to implement structure
  • Explore partnerships in new markets, establishing relationships with the funders, and political, business, and community leaders in those markets

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required; 7+ years of leadership experience in a nonprofit or comparable environment, 4+ years of experience managing a team that included those at the supervisory level; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth. Knowledge of the trauma-informed approach
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop highly engaged teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
  • Unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission, the delivery of quality programs, and data-driven program evaluation
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
  • Must reside in the St Louis, MO area

Development Manager

We are seeking a compassionate and driven Development Manager to lead our fundraising efforts, helping to advance our mission and support families in their time of need. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep commitment to our cause and the skills to build and sustain meaningful partnerships.

Position Summary:

The Development Manager will play a vital role in executing Share’s fundraising initiatives, including donor relations, corporate and foundation partnerships, event coordination, and digital campaigns. The ideal candidate will be an organized, results-driven professional with commitment to our mission and experience in various aspects of nonprofit fundraising.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fundraising Support: Assist the ED in executing the organization’s fundraising plan to meet annual revenue goals across multiple channels. Assist in preparing grant proposals and sponsorship materials.
  • Donor Relations & Stewardship: Manage and cultivate relationships with individual donors, including implementing donor engagement strategies and coordinating regular communications and acknowledgments.
  • Corporate & Foundation Partnerships: Support the identification and cultivation of corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Event Coordination: Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, including annual auction, Share Walk for Remembrance & Hope and all third-party events. Recruit and manage all volunteers including the auction committee and Social Board.
  • Digital & Direct Marketing: Assist in developing and executing digital fundraising campaigns, including email appeals, social media outreach, and online giving strategies.
  • Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate donor records, enter all gifts and produce acknowledgement letters, track fundraising performance, and prepare regular reports on campaign progress and donor engagement. Manage Harness, CRM-Neon and ClickBid.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, board members, and program staff to align on fundraising strategies and support organization-wide goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in nonprofit development or a related role.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in donor communications and grant writing.
  • Event planning experience, with the ability to coordinate event logistics, manage vendors, and support volunteer engagement.
  • Proficiency in donor management systems and Microsoft Office; experience with digital marketing platforms and social media is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Compassionate approach to donor relations and a genuine commitment to the mission of Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support.
  • This position requires in-office hours 3 days a week with additional in-office hours during events.

Physical Demands:

  • Hands-on participation with event set-up is required.
  • Ability to lift items from floor to shoulder level and carry a minimum of 20 pounds

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graphic Design or the use of Canva
  • Familiarity with pregnancy and infant loss issues, or experience working with bereaved families.

Share Board Member

ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

Share Pregnancy & Infant Support Loss, Inc. (Share) is a non-profit organization that serves those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through pregnancy loss, stillbirth or in the first few months of life.  The loss of a baby is one of life’s most painful struggles and Share provides caring support for bereaved families and guides them to a place of healing.  All programs and services are offered to bereaved parents free of charge.

National Share is headquartered in St. Charles, Missouri and has nearly 85 chapters in 29 states.  The National Share Office serves over 4000 individuals annually throughout the world and provides assistance through hospital visits, phone support, grief-counseling services, support groups, resource materials, memorial events, education, and advocacy.

Position Title: Board Member - fundraising expertise

Status: Volunteer

 POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Share is currently seeking a new Board member who has fundraising expertise and who is willing to assist in fundraising. As a Board member of Share, you will join a team responsible for the Organization's legal, fiscal, and ethical oversight. The Board supports Share’s goals and policies, evaluates its effectiveness, and ensures financial stability. While day-to-day operations are led by Share’s Executive Director, the Board member relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have fundraising expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attends quarterly board meetings (through Zoom) and one annual board retreat
  • Assists the Executive Director and Board members in identifying and recruiting other Board Members, as needed
  • Be informed about the organization's mission, services, policies, and programs
  • Acts as an ambassador for the Organization; attends fundraising and other events as a representative of Share
  • Consider Share a philanthropic priority and make monetary gifts in addition to supporting fundraising events
  • Assist in soliciting gifts and creating the development plan.
